| Scam contents | Scammer approached me on Facebook Dating. He was hurt by his previous lover and was looking for someone more mature. The first "red flag" was he asked me to help him buy some personal items. He told me it was his birthday, and it would be nice of me to help him. I know better than to send strangers money, but I ended up doing it any way. It probably wasn't even his birthday. He got $100 from me. Then we were supposed to meet in Austin, TX on August 12. He wanted to get the hotel room ahead of time before my arrival. I sent him $400 to do this. I told him to text me when he did it with the address so I could meet him. When he finally texted me, he gave me some story about the hotel was giving COVID tests and his came back positive. Then he told me he would have to stay in the room alone and go to the hospital the next morning for treatment. This is a total BS story. He just kept all the money. The story is more involved than this, but I wanted to keep it short. In any case, if you run across this individual get rid of him as fast as you can. |
