Same issue with me. Creating excuses and trying to pull more money. First they said my account was blocked for Audit purpose. And they created new ways to take

A lot of romance scammers will claim they're rich to let their victim's guard down. They may even go as far as to make a fake bank, claim they can not access it

The people contacting you may be recovery scammers. If they at all say they can get your lost money back or whatever, hang up on them. I wouldn't even pick up.

Calling the police is good advice! I plan to do the same, even though I never received a check. I am also reporting this to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint C
