Comment / ReviewCrypto Phishing Scam Using QR Codes and Physical Letters

A crypto phishing scam in which attackers send physical letters containing a malicious QR code to individuals who are known or believed to hold cryptocurrency accounts. The letter may impersonate a legitimate cryptocurrency exchange, wallet provider, or security service and claim that the recipient needs to verify their account, resolve a security issue, or complete an urgent action.

When the victim scans the QR code, they are directed to a fraudulent website designed to resemble a legitimate crypto platform. The fake website may attempt to steal the victim’s login credentials, recovery phrase, private information, or other sensitive data. In some cases, it may also trick the victim into approving a fraudulent cryptocurrency transaction.

This approach combines traditional physical mail with digital phishing techniques. The physical letter can make the scam appear more credible and may bypass people's usual caution toward suspicious emails or online messages. The QR code provides a convenient bridge from the physical letter to the attacker-controlled website.
