PseudonymDavid Hayer
Scam contentsEmailed Nov 2025 and requested to book our gite in January 2026 for 2 people for 3 nights. I sent the relevant information and he responded saying he had "concluded arrangements with the guests" and had been instructed to send a cheque and that I should deduct the cost of the accommodation and keep the rest of the money for the guests in euro currency.
He asked me to provide:
1: Name as it should appear on the cheque
2: Address, postcode
3: Phone number.
All of the above information is on an email signature and was also on the quote that I emailed to him.

I stated I was confused and asked if he was a third-party travel agent and also said that in this instance we would require a bank transfer (our bank details were on the quote also) and that we would need the name, dates of birth, nationalities and addresses of the guests who would be staying as we were required to retain this information.
I also said we would need the actual guests to email and state their agreement with our terms and conditions.

I have heard nothing since that last email...................

N.B. There was an address at the bottom of his email in the form of a clickable Google Maps link - 19 Howard Gardens, Cardiff, CF24 0EF, United Kingdom.
Comment / ReviewI suspect this was a large scam to send a cheque and then cancel it.........?
