I received a message in my calendar that my subscription is being renewed with norton lifelock inc for $399.33. there is a phone number to call as well.

Scammers are abusing the calendar feature in google to send spam and fake invoices.
If you get something like this on your calendar then just report it, then ignore it.
For the .edu email, scammers can often spoof or even compromised a real edu domain from a student or teacher. It doesn't mean it's real. Scammers know the value of having a .edu domain email and use it for scamming.
Do NOT call the fake support number they provide. It is not Norton or anyone - they are scammers in a fake call centre.
