| Scam contents | Good morning, We received your application in regards to the Cruise Ship Attendant Position and we would like to inform you that your application has been approved via HRM Consult. This full time position is available within an International Cruise company (name withheld due to our policy) & you will receive a monthly salary of R19320 plus benefits and bonuses working under our recruitment program. However, before we finalize the entire application process, the employers require a full & recent (not older than one month) Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) & background check certificate /report as this is now compulsory prior to the final job offer. A DBS & background check certificate is an official record stating a person's criminal convictions and more. This helps to ensure that employers are making the right decisions during this recruitment process. Kindly note that as an agency, we do not provide this service as we're only entitled to do employment history & reference checks. I received almost word for word the same email except it was a different job and a different recruitment company. I didn't apply for any jobs so I think it's a scam.

Someone posed as an Executive Recruiter for Direct Personnel Consult (DPC).
Stating that I was approved for a job application which I had never applied for. They requested they i do A DBS background check. Which they had recommend Check Masters South Africa as well as provided me with email addresses to contact and websites to visit in order to do so. A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check costs money and this was the idea behind it.

At first I was did email back and they were so persistent on me doing this DBS check if not they demanded it. This is not something a recruitment agency would make you do or if not they would get permission from you to do it. They whole email was based on having me do the DBS check it could possibly be that the person doing these checks are scammers making you pay R420, with no remorse for the fact that there are people really struggling and unemployed.

I made the payment but I find something is very sespesious. The address and contents is wrong. When I look it stated they base in Cape Town but the address in Melrose Blvd, Johannesburg. They do not answer the phone numbers .
I am angry for people like this should already been put in jail. They stealing from people who despretly looking for work.

These job scams usually intend to not only steal your money but also your identity, which is why they demand so many papers that a real recruiter wouldn't be asking for.
