I had the same problem. I thought it was a legit gmail tech - seemed to know some things about computers- but after an hour on the phone he started getting angry that I didn’t want to purchase a subscription for computer protection from quantum web services for $598!!!

google search showed this number was for google customer service. i had a question about my email account. they asked for my email and for my birthdate to confirm. they said they'd assign a technician but it would have a one time charge of $100. i said no and they hung up. bummed they now have my birthday with my email account.

This just happened to me - bought a new phone, suddenly I wasnt able to use my text feature "waiting to connect". Called TMobile first , then was given this number 18883030813 for GOOGLE support. When they started asking me to download a message app I started to feel a little weird. IT was when they wanted me to verify my email by using Paypal, Venmo etc. is when I knew. BTW... another way to tell if it is a scam is when they answer the phone with just "hello".
